Only one pair of cotton twill pants, one shirt and one summer jacket were allowed in the cell. Late at night, isolated prisoners were provided with only one old blanket that was taken away in the morning. The light clothes and a thin and torn blanket were all they had to go through the extreme cold in subzero temperatures.

Departure to the mine for the first shift began at 6:30, after a head count was done by police at the camp’s exit gate, somewhere next to the sleeping area, where prisoners would line up, often irregularly, and meandered down to the mine areas where their brigade was assigned.Brigades were divided according to the intake of camp prisoners.In certain periods during Spaç Camp’s operation, there were 50 prisoners per brigades; sometimes the number would reach 65 prisoners.They would follow the path to the tunnel’s entrance where they were assigned.

Whereas the two carters continued the reinforcement process, the miner hammered holes to put the explosive in and then detonate it after exiting the mine.  All of the rocky mass exploded by the dynamite would be the new work front for the successive shift. The second shift would follow the same routine as the first and then leave the area for the third.

Spies were prisoners that infiltrated rooms through prison command, seeking to extract information on the activity of certain prisoners. They collected information and reported it to prison operatives. These briefings were often made to re-convict prisoners that were nearing their release. The infiltrated were often placed at the same sleeping room with the prisoner they surveilled.

The private kitchen was used by prisoners to cook the few foods they received from their families with which they somehow enriched their poor diet. The pots or pans were also private, brought by the family. These utensils, too, were held in the food depot.
