–     Unit No. 307 in Tepelena (1970–1973)

This prison was opened in 1970. At a time when only labour units were opened instead of prisons, the Tepelena Prison is an exception. It was opened in Bënçë of Tepelena for three years as a high-security place, specifically to isolate anti-party elements. Some prisoners in this prison were communists expelled from the Labour Party, such as Bedri Spahiu, Koço Tashko, Maqo Çomo. Some other prisoners were Gjin Marku, Fehmi Frashëri, Robert Vulkani, Pandeli Varesi, Vangjel Lezho, Halim Xhelo Koçiraj, Bardhyl Belishova, Ahmet Thaçi, Dilaver Radeshi, Xhavit Qesja, Kadri Hoxha, Hamdi Hasko, Galip Sojli etc. On 16 February 1973, the unit was closed, at which point the staff was in the Tepelena Branch of Internal Affairs’ authority.
