Camp surrounded by barbed wire, which operated as a temporary labour camp. In the 1948-1953 period, internees of camp no. 3, which later took number 5, were transferred to Valias, Cërrik and then Tirana. In Cërrik, there was work performed during 1952. Here, the internees worked in the construction of the oil plant.

An escape of four internees from the Cërrik Camp on 20 August 1952 to Yugoslavia can be mentioned. The names of the internees who escaped were Halit Nulla Qamili, 20, from Cangonj, Saimi Feimi, 32, from Kuçi i Zi, Azem Berdo Laze, 19, from Dukat and Harri Benel, German POW who has been interned since 1944.

The Cërrik Camp at this time had 500 inhabitants, including children and seniors.

Zeman Saliaj from Gjirokastra was the camp’s director.

The camp was placed in a wide field with two barracks where internees lived in very hard conditions. Their state was not helped by natural conditions either, as snow and rain were characteristic of this area. Therefore, most of the diseased had pneumonia and tuberculosis.

The internees worked here 14 hours a day. Whoever was unable to work dealt with searching for firewood, which was frequently three to four kilometres from the camp. After Cërrik, the camp was moved to Tirana.
